How to Install Blackberry App World Using Desktop Manager
-
We have some users with BB that have small data plans. I would like to install a few apps, but do not want to install the app world, as they can then install many more. If I have to download these all on the device itself, the data plan will go over.
How can I simply download say messenger 5, latest facebook, poynt etc WITHOUT app world? Why does everything have to go through the app world? WHy can I not just select the app from RIM, download it to my PC, then install it with Desktop manager thus not using up the whole data plan for the month?

BBM
Look at the top of your CrackBerry page, you will find links to many of the free BlackBerry apps available here.
Some individual sites will have the option to download via .zip file via DM. Check out the pages for the app you are wishing to add.
Also, many of the OTA .jad files can be converted to .alx format to be downloaded via DM.
Here are some associated threads that may help you.

What themes? From where you are trying to download them? In what format are the themes?

Just themes for my phone?

Okay. But what site are you getting them from?
If you are getting them from a third party site (ie not from BlackBerry App World), those sites will have an OTA (over the air) download link. To install the theme, you would visit that download link in your BlackBerry Browser and the theme will be installed on the device.

Okay. You don't say which device model number you have, but go to the Themes Forum. http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-themes-f16/
Click on the section for your model number.
Then browse through the posts to find a theme that you like and see if it has a direct OTA link and click on that. But why doesn't your BlackBerry App World work?

Its a BB torch 9800 I have.
I'm not sure why it doesn't work, it used to work when I first got my fone now it doesn't let me log in.

You need to make sure that the ones you are downloading are designed SPECIFICALLY for your specific model NUMBER and that you have the SPECIFIC device OS version required installed on your device. And be sure that you are clicking on the OTA link. Otherwise, they will not show up.
